A Superb Gaming Machine -- And It Looks Really Cool Too
To call this monster a "laptop" pushes the definition of laptop computer. Yeah, this'll fit in your lap--if you're Shaq. Or maybe Santa. But you'll want to ask Santa to bring you one anyway because it's a top notch gaming machine.
As a gaming "laptop" it's meant to be used from a desktop, or maybe a sturdy couch. You don't want to be dragging it on a long airplane trip. It's a beautiful, big machine made of "anodized aluminum" and "reinforced by a magnesium-alloy frame." This is to protect the stunning 17" screen (1920 x 1080, low-glare) and other interior components. All told it weighs in at something like 8 pounds.
But it can handle gaming like a dream. Its 3.4 Ghz i7 handled some of the latest games beautifully. Client-side games like Assassin's Creed III rendered perfectly and fast. Other games that ran on the Unreal Engine, which is processor intensive, ran without a single hiccup. Moving to online gaming, A MMORPG like WoW was seamless, even in heavy 25-man...

Good machine， but it is DVDR/RW ROM, not BD-ROM. it is same with ALW17-4681sLV. Wrong Product Description and pls correct it.
Great laptop!
This is one of the best laptops that I've owned. It's very easy to get setup right out of the box. You can change all the colors on the keyboard, outside and touch pad to personalize it.
It has a wonderful screen and amazing sound system built-in. I couldn't believe the sound when I first cut on my game. On my old laptop I would have to cut the volume all the way up, but on this one, it wasn't even halfway up and I had booming sound. The resolution of the screen is also amazing!
The only thing I wasn't too impressed with was the size. It's pretty big and a little on the heavy side. It's not a laptop that I would be taking many places, though, so that was okay by me. But, if you're looking for a small laptop, this isn't your guy.
Overall, I'm very impressed with the Alienware 17. It's works like a dream!
EDIT: I started having problems with my screen messing up. After talking to a tech support agent for an hour, I think it may be fixed.
